Undercover

Brenda is preparing to go to a baseball game with Nam.  Before they leave for the game, Brenda explains to Nam why it’s important to be sun smart and how to stay safe in the sun.  (Brenda, Nam)

Heat Wave

Nam meets Brenda at her house after he hurts his ankle while chasing a friend’s dog.  Concerned by Nam’s symptoms, Brenda assumes that Nam is experiencing heat cramps.  After Brenda tries to help Nam, they discuss how to prevent a heat-related illness.   (Brenda, Nam)

The Pool Party Planners

Nam and Brenda are meeting to plan her pool party at the community pool.  While Brenda checks her planning lists, they discuss some important pool safety rules and, together with the audience, come up with another very important list.

Bren-Duck

Brenda is packing for a trip to the lake.  When Nam arrives to lend her some last minute items, he takes the chance to talk to his friend about water safety.  They discuss how open water safety is similar to pool safety and how it is different.  (Brenda, Nam)


NOTE: After each script, the puppet characters review the information presented during the scripted interchange with the children in the audience.

The Kids on the Block, created in 1977, features life size puppets who, through the magic of live puppet theatre, teach children and adults about disabilities, medical and educational differences, and social concerns.
