The Kids on the Block program on Sexual
Abuse, which was originally developed in conjunction with
Parents Anonymous, Arlington County Child Protective Services and with
help from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, has
been revised. The curriculum guide contains new and updated script
material, updated character biographies, questions and answers,
follow-up activities and a resource list.
Updated script material focuses on specific issues such as the betrayal
of trust as a factor in abuse, learning how to tell and tricks that
abusive adults might use. Mini-scripts which deal with knowing
emergency telephone numbers, your own number and area code, staying
away from strangers and the use of an emergency plan have also been
updated. A new script, The
"Staying Out of Jeopardy" Game Show, covers general personal
safety information in a quiz game format. KOB associates who own
the original program may purchase an updated curriculum guide and
additional prop for $17.00 plus shipping and handling. Call our
office at 1-800-368-KIDS (5437) to order.
