DWARFISM

Script Scenarios

Patrol Buddies

Brenda is shocked to learn that William Morgan is almost 11 years old and not one of the day care kids she usually helps to cross the street.  William explains that he has dwarfism and does not like being treated like a baby.  Together, Brenda and William talk about the future, his plans for school, career and raising a family someday.  (William, Brenda)

Valentines

It's Valentine's Day and William receives a gift from a "secret admirer."  Brenda tells William that the "admirer" wants to know more about him.  William explains that it is best to be asked directly, but he agrees to answer some questions.  Issues of William's family, their home and its adaptations, his possible occupations, marriage and children are unveiled, as well as the identity of the "secret admirer." (William, Brenda)

The Baseball Team

When William's new coach, Mr. Tuttle, decides to eliminate him from the baseball team just because he has dwarfism, William is quite upset.  Through role-playing with Brenda, he calms down and carefully explains why he should be allowed to play baseball.  He talks about his glove and bat made especially for him and of his positive experiences on the team in his former neighborhood. (William, Brenda)

A "Little" Confused

When Brenda rushes to greet William with the latest issue of "Star Special," she is surprised he does not automatically plan or want to be a clown or in the movies.  William explains that the possibilities for his future occupation are very vast and he wants to have a job which he enjoys and is good at, regardless of his size.  (William, Brenda)
