Secret Code

When Renaldo tells time using his braille watch, Brenda is amazed. This leads her to ask many questions about Renaldo's abilities. Renaldo describes braille and explains how his learning to read with his fingers was no more difficult than it was for Brenda to learn how to read with her eyes. (Renaldo, Brenda)

Super Ears

Brenda has some misconceptions about Renaldo's "super ears." Renaldo explains that his ears are not "super," he just uses them more. When Brenda becomes embarrassed about using the word "see," Renaldo explains that he does not mind when others use words like "look," and "see." (Renaldo, Brenda)

Campers

Mark and some of the other kids have planned a camping trip, without inviting Renaldo. They thought that since Renaldo is blind, he would not be able to go. Renaldo shows Mark how he can do the same things as anyone else, just in a different way. . (Renaldo, Mark)

Help!

Brenda and Melody are at Mel's house waiting for Renaldo so they can start planning the PTA talent show. When Renaldo arrives and lunch is served, Brenda attempts to assist Renaldo. Renaldo explains that he can do things for himself, but will ask for help when and if he needs it. (Renaldo, Brenda, Melody))


NOTE: After each script the children in the audience are given the opportunity to ask their own questions directly to the puppet characters.

The Kids on the Block, created in 1977, features life size puppets who, through the magic of live puppet theatre, teach children and adults about disabilities, medical and educational differences, and social concerns. Through the hard work and dedication of many community based groups, The Kids on the Block puppets are able to touch the lives of people all over the world.
