Meet Carrie Davis

Carrie Davis

KOB Puppet character, Carrie Davis

Carrie Davis is 14 years old and attends Woodburn Junior High School. She is very interested in writing, mathematics, music, basketball and the environment. Carrie's outspoken and confident personality made her a perfect addition to the school's debate team where she has become a passionate and compelling speaker.

Carrie lives with her mom, dad and younger brother, Shane. Even though Carrie and Shane are close, they still experience some of the same frustrations as any sister and brother. Often, there are arguments over whose turn it is to use the phone or the occasional cry of, "Who's been in my stuff?" and "Stay out of my room!"

There are also differences in this brother-sister relationship because Shane has Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Because of this, Carrie has experienced many different and conflicting feelings towards her brother. She often gets frustrated and even jealous when Shane receives the extra attention he requires, but then she'll say, "I feel like a jerk 'cause I am complaining and yelling about Shane, and he's got this disease and his muscles are getting weaker and now he's using a wheelchair... I'm a crummy sister."

It's her grandfather, Pete Whetstone, who Carrie goes to when she has these mixed up feelings. He helps her to realize that what she's feeling is normal and that no brother and sister get along ALL the time.

Carrie appears in The Kids on the Block Program on Muscular Dystrophy.
